Washington D.C. -- Rep. Barry Moore (AL-02), a member of the House Judiciary Committee, joined Greta Brawner on C-SPAN's Washington Journal to discuss H.R. 2, the House Republican legislation to secure the southern border. Moore also spoke on the House floor today urging support for this legislation.
On Biden's open border policies: "This administration's border policies have reinstated the institution of slavery [because] we are bringing people from all over the globe to work to make payments to the drug cartels south of the border."
On how H.R. 2 can stop the chaos at our border: "It sends a message. This instant asylum program -- we need to detain and return people. These unaccompanied minors that I saw at Fort Bliss, we are shipping children to Google addresses with no verification of who they are going to. Sponsors are sending in false information, and we have lost 85,000 children -- the U.S. government doesn't know where they are. [This legislation] sends a message that you must apply for asylum in your own country instead of coming here because right now we are putting the burden on the American taxpayer. We had five million encounters -- my entire state's population -- cross the border before the expiration of Title 42."
