The First 911 Call Was Made From Haleyville, AL | Escambia County Sheriff's Office

On February 16, 1968, at 2:00 p.m. the first 911 call was made from Haleyville, AL. Yesterday Priscilla Ellington, from Escambia County Sheriff's Office and Claudia Lee, from Brewton Police Department, attended the 55th birthday party for 911  at Alabama 911 Board in Montgomery.

When calling 911, always be prepared to answer questions from the call-takers. Questions such as your location and the nature of your emergency are very important. Remember calling 911 can promptly save someone's life.

We thank these two ladies for all that they do at their agencies.
