Greenville: 200 Years of History

GREENVILLE: 200 YEARS OF HISTORY

The completion of the railroad in the late 1850s brought the West Commerce Street District into being. The District grew into a major trade center between Montgomery and Mobile. The West Commerce Street District was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.
