With the cooler temperatures that we have experienced lately, it is hard not to start feeling as if fall has arrived! In the extension office, fall means looking toward the new calendar year while planning programs and completing any training needs. Kali Gilbert, Agent Assistant for the EFNEP (Expanded Food and Nutrition Program) in Blount County is looking forward to growing her programming area in 2023.
The EFNEP program has been providing nutrition education for Alabama’s families with limited resources since 1964. Auburn University’s EFNEP mission is to assist families with limited resources and youth in making simple changes in eating behaviors, so over time, healthy choices become healthy habits. EFNEP serves families, adults with young children, youth in grades 5-12 and pregnant women and teens. The focus is always on diet, food safety and security, and physical activity; and resources are always free.
If you know of someone who would benefit from the EFNEP resources, or if you are part of a community or church organization that would like to partner with us to provide needed “new mom” supplies for our community, then please give Kali a call at the Blount County Extension Office at 205.274.2129 or feel free to email her at krg0046@auburn.edu
