Coach Michael Dean Submitted His Resignation Due to Health Reasons

Greetings, School Supporters and Hillcrest High School Jaguar Football Team,

Regretfully, Coach Michael Dean, HHS athletic director, submitted his resignation due to health reasons. As a passionate Coach, we know this decision was difficult because his commitment and love of sports are unquestionable. Conecuh County Schools thank him for his contributions to the students, including building their confidence and teaching them GRIT (Guts, Resilience, Integrity, Tenacity). We also pray for his restored health and strength.

While this departure time is not perfect, we must help our athletes understand that change is sometimes difficult but inevitable. I hope the community will shift to focusing on and embracing the athletes during this transition. They need positive words and encouragement to continue to do what they love in full cooperation with the coaches who will complete the season with them. Please thank the coaches who have been consistent in their labors of love with our young men, and accept the placement of the interim coach, Mr. Harry Crum. Mr. Crum will serve until the position is filled.

What is important right now is the football program's stability, students' morale, and our athletes' support. We will rally behind and with them; they deserve it because they positively represent our school and community. Please come out in record numbers on August 19, 2022, at 7:00 PM to Brooks Memorial Stadium to show support to the Jaguars and to let them know we stand with them and will be with them throughout the season.

If you would like to support the HHS football team with donations, meals, or messages, please contact Hillcrest High School at 251-578-1126. The student-athletes will greatly appreciate it.

Sincerely,

Dr. Tonya Dukes-Bozeman, Superintendent
