Monroe County Public Library issued the following announcement on Jan. 2.
With Covid-19 case numbers rising in Monroe County and to limit the possible exposure of our staff, volunteers and library patrons, we have made the difficult decision to close the inside of the library to public access for two weeks. Beginning Monday, January 4, 2021 at noon and continuing through Monday, January 18, 2021, the library will be open for virtual and curbside services only.
Patrons will be provided contactless delivery of materials they wish to borrow from the library by calling 251-743-3818 and speaking with a staff member during normal operating hours. Returns can be left in our drop box to the right of the porch.
We will be offering several virtual services, including Crafts and Coffee Adult Art Education Classes. However, Painting With a Purpose, our youth art education class, originally scheduled for this Thursday, January 7, 2021, has been cancelled.
We will be open Monday, January 4, 2021 from 9AM until12 noon for public access, but at noon we will move to curbside services only.
We are planning to reopen inside access to the public on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, if Covid-19 case numbers discontinue their rise.
Thank you for supporting your library and working with us as we do our part to help stop the spread of Covid-19 in our community while still providing you with many of the services you have come to depend on. We wish you a healthy, safe and Happy New Year!
