How many businesses registered across cities in Covington County during Q1?

There were 70 businesses that registered in cities within Covington County during the first quarter of 2023, according to the Alabama Secretary of State.

This is 27 percent more than the quarter before, when 55 businesses were registered.

Andalusia registered the most businesses in Covington County.

More than 99 percent of Alabama's businesses are considered small, with more than 47 percent of Alabama's employees working for a small business, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration.

A Civic Economics study found $100 spent at a locally-owned business puts $47 back into the local economy while the total is just $13 for non-local businesses.
