12 businesses registered in cities in Clarke County during February

There were 12 businesses that registered in cities within Clarke County during February, according to the Alabama Secretary of State.

This is eight percent less than the month before, when 13 businesses were registered.

Jackson registered the most businesses in Clarke County.

More than 99 percent of Alabama's businesses are considered small, with more than 47 percent of Alabama's employees working for a small business, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration.

A Civic Economics study found $100 spent at a locally-owned business puts $47 back into the local economy while the total is just $13 for non-local businesses.
