Washington, D.C. — On May 26, Rep. Barry Moore voted in support of H.R. 467, the Halt All Lethal Trafficking (HALT) of Fentanyl Act. This legislation permanently classifies fentanyl as a Schedule I drug based on the Controlled Substances Act, helping to raise awareness of the dangers of fentanyl and allow researchers to study its effects. The Biden Administration continues to turn a blind eye while over 17,000 pounds of fentanyl has been seized at our open border in FY2023 alone.

"The fentanyl pouring across our open southern border continues to devastate families across America, " said Moore. "More than 120,000 families this year alone are facing an empty seat at their dinner table due to this dangerous drug. Fentanyl and substances that contain traces of it can be 100 times more potent than morphine, and ingesting just a few milligrams can be instantly lethal. We have seized enough fentanyl at our southern border to kill every person in the United States."
