Washington, D.C. — The Congressional Management Foundation (CMF) announced today that Rep. Barry Moore is a finalist for a Democracy Award, CMF’s award recognizing non-legislative achievement and performance in congressional offices. Rep. Moore was selected as a finalist for two categories -- Workplace Environment and Constituent Accountability and Accessibility.

“Americans usually only hear about Congress when something goes wrong. The Democracy Awards shines a light on Congress when it does something right,” said Bradford Fitch, CMF’s President and CEO. “These Members of Congress and their staff deserve recognition for their work to improve accountability in government, modernize their work environments and serve their constituents."

“As a Democracy Award finalist, Rep. Moore office is clearly one of the best in Congress,” continued Fitch. “This designation demonstrates that Rep. Moore has made a significant commitment to being the best public servant for his constituents in Alabama. Rep. Moore and his staff are to be congratulated for not only being a model for his colleagues in Congress, but for helping to restore trust and faith that our democratic institutions can work.”

“Becoming a finalist in two categories is an additional rare achievement that Rep. Moore and his staff should be proud of,” Fitch added.

"When I came to Congress, I promised my constituents I would be as accessible as possible, and I kept that promise by holding town halls, Facebook lives, mobile office hours, and other public events," said Moore. "My talented staff learned creative ways to be flexible and reach as many constituents as possible under the shadow of a pandemic, and I am proud to be recognized for our efforts."

“It was also a priority to create a workplace environment that attracted quality staff with true servant’s hearts,” continued Moore. “Having the best and brightest conservative talent in the District and D.C. ensures that the people I represent receive the best constituent service possible.”

Ten House and Senate offices were honored as finalists today in three categories: Constituent Service; Constituent Accountability and Accessibility; and Workplace Environment. The winners will be selected in August by a selection committee primarily comprised of former Members of Congress and congressional staff. The finalists and winners will be honored at a ceremony to be held in Washington, D.C. on September 15, 2023, during Constitution Week.
