First Women in Welding Program | LBW Community College

Jaime Stewart enrolled in LBW Community College’s first Women in Welding program with zero welding knowledge. Before completing the 16-week course, Jaime gained enough skills to earn a full-time job as a welder at Ireland Trailer Sales, Inc.The program is a partnership with the Women's Foundation of Alabama that offers training to women entering the welding workforce.Participants receive OSHA 10 Certification, and train to become Certified Welders. Free childcare and job placement assistance are offered. No tuition is due, and a $500 stipend is provided for required welding equipment.

Special thanks to the Alabama Community College System for the student spotlight, and Gina Ireland, an essential workforce partner.
