There were two businesses registered in cities across Monroe County in week ending Nov. 19, 2022

There were two businesses that registered in cities within Monroe County in the week ending Nov. 19, 2022, according to the Alabama Secretary of State.

This is 33 percent less than the week before, when three businesses were registered.

Monroeville registered the most businesses in Monroe County.

More than 99 percent of Alabama's businesses are considered small, with more than 47 percent of Alabama's employees working for a small business, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration.

A Civic Economics study found $100 spent at a locally-owned business puts $47 back into the local economy while the total is just $13 for non-local businesses.
