Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce: News Alert From Q94 Radio

News Alert!!!

Authorities are still searching for a white male in his mid 30’s that may be suffering from a mental issue.  On the Kyle and Dave Show this morning, Butler Co. Sheriff Danny Bond said his department was notified yesterday of an individual that may need help.  Before deputies arrived on scene the man stole a vehicle and tried to run head on into a deputies vehicle. A high speed pursuit ensued and ultimately ended after a spike strip was deployed on highway 31 South near the Greenville city limits.  Sheriff Bond said the man fled the scene on foot without a shirt and possibly without pants.  When asked if the person was armed, Sheriff Bond stated that although a weapon was found in nearby woods, the suspect could possibly still be armed.  Sheriff Bond said no one was injured in during the event but that the white male may have injuries that were sustained prior to any interaction with authorities.  Tracking dogs were brought in and a search has been ongoing continuously.  Those in the area around highway 31 near the Greenville city limits are encouraged to be on high alert, lock your doors and report any suspicious activities by calling 911.
