Clarke County ranked 43rd among counties in Alabama by annual earnings per resident, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The median income of Clarke County residents was $20,939 per year, adjusted for inflation. It had 9,358 households with a population of 24,387.

The county with the highest median resident income in the state was Shelby County with $35,756 per year after adjusting for inflation – $14,817 more than Clarke County. It had 78,328 households with a population of 211,261.

The county with the lowest median resident income in the state was Sumter County with $14,525 per year after adjusting for inflation – $6,414 less than Clarke County. It had 5,047 households with a population of 12,985.
