LURLEEN B WALLACE COMMUNITY COLLEGE: Chancellor Baker Appoints Dr. Brock Kelley as President at Lurleen B. Wallace Community College

Lurleen B Wallace Community College issued the following announcement on Nov. 10.

On Tuesday, Chancellor Jimmy H. Baker announced the appointment of Dr. Brock Kelley as President of Lurleen B. Wallace Community College (LBW). Kelley was appointed Interim President of the college in September.

“Dr. Kelley’s dynamic leadership style and career-long commitment to helping students succeed makes him the ideal candidate to fill this role at LBW,” Baker said. “The faculty, staff, and students in Andalusia, Greenville, Luverne, and Opp will be well-served by Dr. Kelley’s experience in the classroom and in the workforce development community.”

Prior to his role at LBW, Kelley served as Regional Director of Workforce Development for the Alabama Community College System (ACCS). Before joining the ACCS, Kelley served as Director of Workforce Development for the Alabama Department of Education.

An Opp, Alabama, native and Lurleen B. Wallace Community College alum, Kelley began his career as a Special Education Teacher at Enterprise High School in Enterprise. He later served as a Behavior Specialist for Enterprise City Schools and Principal at Charles Henderson High School in Troy. He earned an Associate of Science at Lurleen B. Wallace Community College in Andalusia, where he was a member of the Saints baseball team. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Collaboration (K-6) and a Master of Science in Collaboration (6-12) from Troy University. He completed the Education Administration Endorsement at Auburn University-Montgomery and earned his Ph.D. in Adult and Continuing Education from Auburn University.

“It is a tremendous honor to serve my alma mater in this capacity,” Kelley said. “LBW is a special place that serves unique communities across our service area and I look forward to continuing to work alongside our faculty, staff, and students as we continue our commitment to top quality education and skills training for all those we serve.”

Dr. Kelley’s new appointment to LBW begins on Tuesday, December 1.
