Cost of college went up for all students at Reid State Technical College

In-state tuition and fees rose 6.7 percent for 2018-19 at Reid State Technical College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Alabama residents paid $4,800 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $300 more than the $4,500 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 80.6 percent more than residents this year, or $8,670. Their price tag grew 7.4 percent from $8,070 in 2017-18.

About 99 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Alabama residents. And about 1 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 95 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 51 students received grants or scholarships totaling $282,788.

Including all undergraduates (396), 370 students used grants or scholarships totaling $1.4 million.
