Rep. Barry Moore, a U.S. Congressman representing Alabama’s 2nd district, posted a series of statements on social media in mid-October 2025 criticizing Senate Democrats over government shutdown votes and expressing support for legislation opposing Sharia law in American institutions.
On October 15, Moore wrote, “Democrats in the Senate have voted nine separate times to withhold paychecks from American families. This shutdown is hurting the American people, and all Democrats care about is how they benefit.”
The following day, Moore stated his position on Sharia law, saying, “Sharia law has no place in our courts, our schools, or our communities. I am proud to cosponsor two bills from @RepChipRoy and @RepFine that defend the principles that make America exceptional and preserve the rights our Founders enshrined for every citizen.” This message referenced his support for legislative efforts by fellow representatives Chip Roy and Randy Fine.
Later on October 16, Moore commented again on the ongoing government shutdown: “Today, Democrats voted to shut down the government for the 10th time. President Trump ensured troops didn’t miss their pay this week, but if the shutdown continues much longer, two million military families will go without. It’s past time for the Democrats to do their job.”
Barry Moore has served in Congress since 2021 after replacing Martha Roy. Before his tenure in Washington, he was a member of the Alabama House of Representatives from 2010 to 2018. Moore was born in Coffee County, Alabama in 1966 and currently resides in Enterprise. He graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1992.
