Rep. Barry Moore, a U.S. Congressman representing Alabama’s 2nd district since 2021, has taken to social media to voice his opposition to the ongoing government shutdown and related appropriations disputes in Congress.
On October 2, 2025, Moore posted: “Democrats are hurting the American people every day they keep this shutdown going.
Until an appropriations agreement is reached, I’m asking that my pay is withheld and I call on my Democrat colleagues to do the same.”
The following day, Moore continued his criticism of Democratic lawmakers by stating: “Don’t let the Democrats lie to you about what their shutdown is about – their goal is to make you pay for illegals’ healthcare.
Republicans are standing strong to protect the American people from Democrats’ radical agenda.” This post was made on October 3, 2025.
On October 4, 2025, Moore specifically referenced Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s legislative actions: “Schumer’s continuing resolution hands out nearly $200 BILLION in healthcare subsidies for illegal immigrants.
American families are hurting because Democrats continue to show they are America Last.”
Barry Moore has represented Alabama’s 2nd District in Congress since 2021 after serving in the Alabama House of Representatives from 2010 to 2018. Born in Coffee County, Alabama in 1966 and currently residing in Enterprise, Moore graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1992.
