Rep. Barry Moore, who represents Alabama’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets this week addressing agricultural policy, allegations about the Obama administration, and the passing of Dr. Annette Nevin Shelby.
On July 22, Moore commented on regulatory challenges facing American agriculture: “Government red tape leads to 12 years and around $300 million just to get products to growers that will improve their yield and better serve the American people. @HouseAgGOP is trying to get government to work alongside producers instead of riding on their backs.”
Two days later, Moore made claims regarding former President Barack Obama and the Russia investigation: “President Obama didn’t just push for the Russia collusion narrative, he knew that it was a hoax. Now that we know his Administration manufactured the intelligence documents, accountability is coming.” The tweet reflects ongoing partisan debate over investigations into Russian interference in U.S. elections.
Later on July 24, Moore expressed condolences following the death of Dr. Annette Nevin Shelby: “I am sorry to hear about the passing of Dr. Annette Nevin Shelby, a Coffee county native, respected scholar, and the wife of Senator Richard Shelby. She touched the lives of countless students across the country. Heather and I hope you will join us in prayer for the Shelby”
Barry Moore has served as a member of Congress since 2021 after succeeding Martha Roy. He previously represented his area in the Alabama House of Representatives from 2010 to 2018. Born in Coffee County in 1966, Moore currently resides in Enterprise and graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1992.
