Representative Barry Moore, a member of the U.S. Congress from Alabama’s 2nd district, has recently expressed his views on military readiness and legislation via social media. In a series of tweets dated May 14, 2025, Moore addressed national security concerns and announced a new legislative proposal.

Moore emphasized the importance of focus for military personnel in light of current global threats. He stated, “We are in dangerous times and our men and women in uniform should only have to focus on countering the threats we face as a nation.” This tweet underscores his belief that military efforts should be directed solely towards addressing national security challenges.

In another tweet posted moments later, Moore announced the introduction of new legislation aimed at maintaining military readiness. He declared, “To ensure this happens, I am introducing the Readiness Over Wokeness Act, which codifies @POTUS’s January 27, 2025, Executive Order prohibiting military service for transgender individuals and solidifies into law the DoD directive from @SecDef.” The proposed act seeks to enshrine into law an existing executive order related to military service eligibility.

Further emphasizing his stance on military effectiveness, Moore asserted that “This means the United States must have the most lethal and effective fighting force in the world.” This statement highlights his commitment to ensuring that U.S. armed forces maintain superior combat capabilities.

Barry Moore has been serving in Congress since 2021 after succeeding Martha Roy. Before his tenure in Congress, he was part of the Alabama House of Representatives from 2010 to 2018. Born in Coffee County, Alabama in 1966, Moore resides in Enterprise and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University obtained in 1992.
